Operation Moses, Joshua, and Solomon were Israeli and United States led evacuation of Ethiopian Jews. Also known as the Beta Israel community, the Jewish Ethiopians had fled to Sudan driven by the effects of famine in their homeland. The Nation of Israel would lead the efforts and with the United States help, 8000 Beta Israelis were rescued from Sudanese internment camps. In 1990 the Ethiopian government agreed to allow a further 14,000+ to emigrate to Israel. All accounted an estimated 130,000 Beta Israelis now live in Israel.
