Colombian Government Continues to Mislead International Community on Levels of Anti-Trade Union Violence

However, according to the Colombian Government the true number of trade unionists killed in 2007 is actually none. Or six. Or 26, or 34. These are all figures that have been provided by the Colombian authorities - and they all understate the true severity of the situation.

By continuing to mislead the international community in this way the Colombian authorities have demonstrated once again that they do not take the issue of anti-trade union violence seriously. Furthermore, it clearly calls into question the accuracy of other data provided by the Colombian Government.

=-2006 statistics show that 81 trade unionists were killed in Colombia. For complete details of all of the murders see : Trade Union Murders
